Atelier's try-on images are AI-generated simulations, NOT photographs.
Every makeup try-on is an AI-generated cosmetic simulation for visualization and entertainment — an approximation of how a look might appear. It is not a photograph, not a guarantee that a real product will look the same on real skin, and not professional beauty, dermatological, or medical advice.
This page spells out clearly what Atelier is and is not, so there's no confusion about how to read its output.
What Atelier is
- A studio: you design a makeup look — blush, lips, eyes, brows, and more — by choosing zones and shades.
- A visualizer: from a single face selfie, an AI renders your designed look onto your photo and returns a before / after image.
- A gallery: it saves your try-ons to your account so you can revisit and compare looks over time.
- An entertainment and inspiration tool: a fun, low-stakes way to explore makeup ideas before you pick up a real brush.
What Atelier is NOT
Not a photograph or a product-accurate rendering
- Every try-on is generated by a probabilistic AI model — it is an approximation, not a captured image of your face wearing makeup.
- The simulated shades, finishes, and coverage are stylised and will not exactly match any specific brand or product.
- Results can vary with photo quality, pose, distance, lighting, skin tone, and the look you designed.
- Two try-ons of similar photos can look different because of model variance.
Not a guarantee of real-world results
- A simulated look is not a promise that a real cosmetic product will look the same when you apply it.
- Real results depend on the actual products you buy, your skin type and tone, lighting, and your application skill.
- Colours on a screen differ from colours on skin, and from device to device.
Not beauty, dermatological, or medical advice
- Atelier does not recommend specific products for your skin and is not a substitute for a professional makeup artist, esthetician, or dermatologist.
- Always patch test a new cosmetic before applying it to your face.
- Consult a dermatologist for skin concerns, allergies, or any reaction to a product.
Not a rating of other people
- Try-ons are designed for your own face.
- Only upload a photo of your own face, or of someone who has given their explicit consent — and never a minor's photo.
- Your try-ons are private to your account; we don't make them public.
Before you use real cosmetics
A look that appears flattering in a simulation may behave differently in real life. Always patch test a new product on a small area of skin and wait for any reaction before applying it more widely.
If you have sensitive skin, known allergies, a skin condition, or you experience irritation, redness, or any reaction, stop using the product and consult a dermatologist or qualified healthcare professional.
Acceptable use, briefly
- Only upload photos of your own face, or of someone who has consented.
- Don't upload photos of minors.
- Don't pass off AI-generated try-on images as real photographs, or use them to deceive anyone.
- Don't use try-on images to make product, brand, or endorsement claims.
Full acceptable-use rules live in the Terms of Service.
Limitation of liability
By using Atelier you accept that:
- We're not liable for outcomes from decisions you make based on a try-on simulation, including which cosmetics you buy or how you apply them.
- We're not liable when a simulated look does not match how a real product looks or performs on your skin.
- The cap and full limitations are set out in §10 of the Terms of Service.
